Apple reveals a new home speaker which is Amazon’s Echo competitor

On Monday, Apple unveiled one of its newest product the HomePod, a 7-inch tall speaker at its annual developer conference (WWDC) in San José. The device is good for playing music, checking the news and controlling other devices in the home. The HomePod  comes in black or white mash. The appearance looks like a microphone. And, the device comes fully equipped with Siri voice integration.

The HomePod will go on sale later this year for $349. The director of marketing, Phil Schiller claims the product has been in the works for years. But, the product looks like the Amazon Echo.  Schiller claims that the product was not inspired by Amazon’s Echo because the sound quality on the Echo is poor and the speakers do not have interactive voice assistants. But, the only difference between the Amazon’s echo and the HomePod is the spatial awareness that detects the location.
